This report synthesizes the findings of two case studies titled ‘Comparing Adaptation and Development’, which were undertaken in Bangladesh and Vietnam by the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Knowledge Platform for Asia. One of the key messages of these studies is that while in theory there is a difference between adaptation and development, the actions taken to achieve adaptation can, in practice, hardly be distinguished from those required to achieve sustainable development.
