Dhaka – A workshop on “Collaborative Research Platform and Knowledge Sharing for Improved Capacity to Address Climate Change Adaptation in Bangladesh” was held here on 27 July 2010 in Bangladesh. The workshop was organized by Regional Climate Change Adaptation Platform for Asia, Bangladesh Center for Advanced Studies (BCAS), UK Collaborative on Development Sciences (IIED/UKCDS), Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN).

The objectives of this workshop was to overview and summarize the different initiatives and activities taking place in Bangladesh on climate change and the implementation of the Bangladesh Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan (BCCSAP) to ensure coordination and encourage collaboration within the framework; and to discuss the arrangements for developing a collaborative research platform and constituent elements. The Adaptation Knowledge Platform representatives participated in this workshop and contributed to the process of mapping climate change knowledge providers in Bangladesh along with climate related datasets and information; identifying elements on institutional design of the knowledge management platform and the role of participating institutions; defining roles of knowledge providers, intermediaries, and users and scope for regional support and the way forward.
