A consultation meeting for the Pacific Island sub-region of APAN was held on 28 – 29 February 2012 in Apia, Samoa. Similar with the objectives of the consultation meetings from other sub-regions, the sub-regional meeting in Samoa aimed to (i) iIntroduce APAN’s Pacific Sub regional node to the key stakeholders and countries in the sub-region; (ii) hold discussion on major challenges to address climate change (e.g. types of capacity gaps, knowledge and information gaps, gaps in policies and legislation etc.) form county’s point of view; and (iii) identify priority regional issues, support needs to overcome those challenges, and roles of national institutions to respond in collaboration with APAN

At the end of the consultation meeting, it APAN was able to (i) extend its network further; (ii) identify capacity needs and knowledge gaps in the Pacific; (iii) identify the main knowledge providers and users on CCA in the countries identified; and (iv) determine the areas of potential intervention and contribution of APAN and other potential agencies/ initiatives.
