The United Nations Environment Programme Regional Office for Asia Pacific, the Institute of Global Environmental Strategies, the Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific at the Asian Institute of Technology, the Stockholm Environment Institute and other partners co-organized the 4th Asia Pacific Climate Change Adaptation Forum that held on 1-3 October in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia under the aegis of the Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN).
Hosted by the Office of the Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of Malaysia and with technical support from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia's Southeast Asia Disaster Prevention Research Initiative, the Forum was a venue to identify new adaptation solutions across the region and it contributed to the "Science to Action Programme" of Malaysia, inspired by the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
The Forum was attended by Ministerial-level participants from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Japan and Indonesia as well as the UN Resident Coordinator of Malaysia. Additionally, over 500 adaptation practitioners and high-level participants from business, research and civil society from the region were in attendance. The Forum was widely covered by international and national media. During the event, the Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy of Sri Lanka formally expressed interest to host the Adaptation Forum 2016 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
