Description of Intervention
• Enhancement of organic soil matter through crop rotation, composting, cover crops, system of rice intensification (SRI). mulching, home gardening, multi-purpose trees and fish raising;
• Water management through an integrated farming system (multi-purpose farming) and small scale irrigation systems, including ponds and canals;
• Application of ecological pest management; and
• Conservation of local seeds and improvement of their quality.

To develop integrated commercial farms that sustain their agricultural production while adapting to climate change and conserving biodiversity

To increase farmers’ adaptive capacity in dealing with climate change
How it fits into the EbA concept
The quality of natural base assets that farmers own was enhanced through the use of SRI, which led to improved resilience of the ecosystems against the potential impacts of climatic changes. The use of SRI and other climate resilient agricultural techniques was sustained and expanded through farmers training, and an information dissemination mechanism was established to improve leadership and agricultural skills. The target farmers also learned to diversify their livelihood sources regarding food and income.
