Description of Intervention
The project provides technical assistance to Ministry of Environment science and Technology (MOEST) and other line agencies responsible for environmental management to raise awareness build new and strengthen existing capacities and skills, and mainstream environmental and climate change considerations into the national development agenda.
Problems to be Addressed
Increasing climate change risks, climate change awareness building among stakeholders at the national and subnational level.
Aims
To follow a participatory development process that would not only help in strengthening the resilience and coping skills of participating communities but also strengthen their disaster management programs through identification of hazards and disaster risk reduction techniques.
Objectives
• To provide an improved, sustainable institutional framework for managing climate change and the environment agreed upon by the Government; and
• To strengthen the capacity in the country for better management of the environment and climate change.
How it fits into the EbA concept
As part of the new organizational framework, the project calls for local government units to assessment of vulnerability, risk mapping, and planning of adaptation interventions by local government units.
