The briefing paper, produced by a network of civil society organizations monitoring the climate change talks, highlights the serious threats posed by climate change to agriculture. Decreased crop production due to climate change has the potential to increase food prices and food insecurity, as well as threaten the livelihoods of millions of smallholder farmers. Even if the world can limit global temperature rise to 2oC, this would be too much for agriculture to cope with.
