The Indo-German development cooperation project Climate Change Adaptation in Rural Areas of India (CCA RAI) is pleased to announce the launch of its publication  “A Framework for Climate Change Vulnerability Assessments”. The framework was developed by GIZ together with the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India. It brings together expertise of many national and international professionals working on climate change issues.

It introduces the reader to the concept of vulnerability to climate change, presents a general framework for assessing vulnerability and provides a rich selection of methods and tools to assess components of vulnerability at various levels. The practical framework is divided into stages and steps that are supplemented by real case examples of both a bottom-up community based assessment in West Bengal and a top-down vulnerability assessment of the State of Madhya Pradesh.

The objective of this publication is to assist decision makers and adaptation practitioners in identifying appropriate tools and methodologies for carrying out climate change vulnerability assessments as per their needs and priorities.

Hard copies are available on request.
