Household economic losses of urban flood – Case study of Can Tho City, Vietnam

The aim of this study was to assess the costs borne by local residents when faced by floods in the city of Can Tho, Vietnam. The author identifies components of economic loss (direct and indirect costs) at different stages of floods (before, during and after the flood) and using appropriate methods to analyze the economic losses. The author also provides measures and policy recommendations to reduce losses incurred by households caused by floods in the city.
