Disasters in Mountains: Increasing Catastrophes in Indian Himalayas

A total of 80,000 people were affected while over 50 people died, 80 villages were cut off from mainland, seven major bridges collapsed, and 60 km of national highway damaged in the flash flood and landslide that hit Uttarkashi on August 3, 2012. Again, on 13 September, 2012, 70 people died in the landslide and flash flood that devastated 10 villages. This video brings home the catastrophe that struck Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts of Uttarakhand state in India in 2012.
