This project builds climate change and disaster risk resilience in key vulnerable sectors and mitigates greenhouse gas emissions of highly polluting sectors through knowledge building, and the generation of project concepts for adaptation and mitigation interventions in participating countries. Expected outcomes are 1). Provision of governments with a) improved macro-level scientific and economic data at national and sub-national level to assist decision-making including community, social and physical science-based impact maps, GIS-data, climate modeling and cost-benefit analysis of climate responses, and b) capacity of resource managers to identify 'no regret' strategies; 2) Development a methodology to ensure synergies between government and civil society organization mitigation & adaptation approaches; 3) increased use of civil society to implement community-based mitigation & adaptation initiatives and assessment of social impacts of climate change using a 'bottom-up approach'; and 4) greater participation of private sector financing in climate change mitigation & adaptation activities.
