Pacific Women in Climate Change

For the first time ever, a Pacific woman is one of the lead authors in the next report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Dr. Netatua Pelesikoti from Tonga, Director of the Climate Change Division at the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme, is the lead contributor to Chapter 29 on Small Islands in the 5th Assessment Report. The 5th Assessment Report will provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge in climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic impacts. Dr. Pelesikoti, or Neta as she is called, has 20 years of experience in climate change, coastal management and disaster risk management
