16th Cambodia Disaster Risk Reduction Forum

Phnom Penh – The 16th Cambodia Disaster Risk Reduction Forum was held from 16-17 June 2010 on the theme: “Cooperation on Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Resilience”.

Phnom Penh – The Adaptation Knowledge Platform is in discussion with the Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA) for potential collaborations on coastal climate change adaptation and to address Climate Change and Disaster Risks in Cambodia. With this collaboration, the Platform aims to enhance the capacity of institutions and ministries to prepare and mitigate risks pertaining to Climate Change, and directly help vulnerable communities by enhancing their resilience to Climate Change and other natural hazards. The CCCA is anchored in the government’s National Climate Change Committee (NCCC), and Climate Change Department (CCD) in the Ministry of Environment.  

The 16th Cambodia Disaster Risk Reduction Forum was held from 16-17 June 2010 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on the theme: “Cooperation on Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Resilience”. The Forum was supported by Strengthening Climate Resilience (SCR) Programme, Plan International and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Forum.

The Forum brought together different stakeholders to share experiences of combining CCA, Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and development approaches. It also provided a platform to learn and share the emerging good practices, the new evolving areas that are shaping up and what are the experiences which could be useful for future through open discussions and debates. The Forum brought together different agencies to discuss, share ideas and explore programming, projects and policies that already seek to link CCA, DRM and other development approaches in Cambodia.

The Adaptation Knowledge Platform also made a presentation in this Forum highlighting its work on CCA, DRM and development. More details of this presentation and about the event can be found in ‘Related files’.
