Central Asia Climate Change Focal Points and Experts Consultation Meeting

About 30 climate change focal points and experts from the five Central Asian countries including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan attended and actively participated in the event to meet the climate change mitigation and adaptation focal points from the Central Asian countries; discuss the progress regarding the UNEP project on mitigation in Central Asia; and introduce APAN and its activities to the focal points.

The participants discussed the outcomes of the first phase of the project entitled "Capacity Building in Development of Policy Framework for Promotion of Low Carbon Emission Societies in Central Asia" and developed activity road maps for the second phase. The meeting also addressed adaptation needs in CA. The main output of the meeting was the endorsement of the work plan for the Phase II of the project.
