CSR: Partnerships for Community Development

Creative partnership for development…

What is this course about?
The importance of the private sector in promoting sustainable development, from the local to the global level, is undeniable. Businesses are making ever greater commitments to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through involvement in community development initiatives. However, effective community development is complex. This easily leads to initiatives that are not sustainable, or to businesses just writing cheques for NGOs. Neither yields optimal results – whereas meaningful collaboration can. Businesses can benefit from working with NGOs that have a wealth of technical expertise, community knowledge and local networks. NGOs can learn from business approaches and material and non-material assistance to improve their work. Jointly they can develop efforts with lasting positive impact. CSR for community development provides many exciting opportunities for NGOs and businesses to work together!
