ADAPT Asia-Pacific 2nd Annual Meeting

SHARE THIS PAGE:

ADAPT Asia-Pacific has undertaken an extensive consultation process since the First Annual Forum to plan the Second Annual Meeting that meets the unique needs of the Pacific region. This planning recognised that PICs have strongly called for enhanced access to climate change resources to meet the critical climate change challenges (particularly adaptation) faced by the region. In 2010, Leaders tasked the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP and other stakeholders) to coordinate support to improve PICs access to, and management of, climate change resources. Considerable efforts by a number of countries and development partners have progressed to this end over the last couple of years.

To ensure that Pacific perspectives are integral to the Second Annual Meeting’s design, the PIFS facilitated regional input through its current role as Chair of the Pacific Climate Change Roundtable (PCCR) Resources Working Group (RWG). The key outcome of these consultations was a decision to hold the ADAPT Asia-Pacific Second Annual Meeting ‘back to back’ with a Pacific Climate Change Financing Workshop planned to occur 30 May – 1 June. These two separate but interrelated events would combine to form the Pacific Climate Change Resourcing Event Week over about a week from 30 May – 4 June, 2013, Nadi, Fiji.
